The latest wave of the RED C Credit Crunch Tracker shows further increases in consumer confidence with half now believing the Irish economy will fare better in the next 6 months. Interestingly, this improvement is driven by counties outside Dublin, thereby closing the previously seen confidence gap up to Dublin – in other words, the positive outlook is seen across Ireland.
As a nation, we also feel much happier than a year ago, our perceived quality of life is higher and we have more motivation/energy for life!
Yet, the personal benefits from the improved economic outlook are still lacking – this is the key reason why consumer spending is currently growing at a much slower pace than consumer confidence.
